Yorkshire is the largest country in England. The largest city is Leeds, but we could say that historically speaking the most important one was the city of York, the one that gives the name to the county. It is important to mention too that there are some other important cities, for example Middelsbrough or Sheffield.

It is a very interesting region in England, especially due to all the writers and athletes it has given to the country. From the one hand, we could say that Beowulf, the first novel written in old ENglish, was written in the region. From the other, football has a huge importance in Yorkshire, being Sheffield Wednesday the first football club in history.

The county is also famous for its beatiful landscapes and it has acquired the nickname of "God's Own County".Yorkshire includes the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, and part of the Peak District National Park. There are also seaside resorts in Yorkshire with sandy beaches, for example Whitby has been voted as the United Kingdom's best beach, with a "postcard-perfect harbour".
